Hello Picture Book writers!
In the midst of all the excitement of late with a new agent and contest win (squee!), I'm closing out the Kick Off Launch Party of my critique service this weekend and I thought it would be extra fun to throw a FREE-TIQUE Party too.
What's that, you ask? It's a FREE picture book critique contest. All you need to do to enter the contest is leave a comment on THIS POST before midnight, Saturday, Sept. 15th. I will throw each name into a hat (one per person) and I will randomly choose one WINNER!
To add a little extra fun, tell me your favorite picture book of all time and I'll post mine too.
Of course, you can read more about my critique service HERE.
Good luck!

My favorite picture book of all time is The Other Side by Jaqueline Woodson, illustrated by E.B. Lewis. I cry every time I read it. It evokes a lot of childhood memories & feelings for me. I grew up in a small town in Alabama and had a fence just like the one painted by Mr. Lewis. And the two girls remind me a lot of me and my 2nd grade best friend. And then, when I heard the back story from Mr. Lewis at the 2011 SCBWI Summer Conference, it made it even more special. Ok... Enough rambling. Haha.

Thanks for the offer. I have been writing picture books since the third grade when I fell in love with storytelling. I have yet to sign with an agent or publish one, although my journey has just begun. My favorite picture book to read with my 5 year old is The Digging-est Dog by Al Perkins. It's adorable, emotional, relate-able, and the rhyming scheme is flawless. Congrats on your recent accomplishments and thanks for offering this contest!

A fantastic contest! As far as favorite PB - too hard to pick, but I'll go with what my 3yo is smitten with at the moment: Chicks Run Wild by Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen. She taught my son the word 'glower' - and did it in rhyming, fun way. Now THAT is the magic of picture books.

Congrats, on your contest win and new agent! A FREE-tique . . . WOW!
I have to agree with the others that selecting just one favorite picture book is difficult.
My favorite book from childhood is HATS FOR SALE. Much more recent favorite is Lisa Wheeler's ONE DARK NIGHT.
That's so generous of you Jenni! I would love the opportunity to win a critique from you. Good luck with your agent and new crit service and congratulations again on the SCBWI award!
